Romeo and Juliet (Alternative Ending)

As Romeo arrives at the graveyard in order to see his beloved Juliet, Romeo saw Paris, his rival. He convinced Paris to leave the tomb. He told Paris that he has come there with weapons to use against himself and that he does not want to commit another crime. Paris refuses and challenged Romeo to a duel. The two of them fought with their blazing swords.

In the middle of the duel, they a heard a sound from Juliet’s tomb. The both of them are caught in silence. They went closer to the tomb to see where the noise is coming from. Romeo opened the tomb and saw his beloved Juliet alive and looks very tired after a long sleep.

Paris was shocked, as well as Romeo since they thought that the woman they both love is already dead. Juliet had no choice, but to explain everything to the two young men. She told them that she and Friar Laurence had faked her death in order to call off her wedding with Paris.

Paris asked Juliet the reason why she does not want to marry him. Juliet told him that she and Romeo are already married. Paris was very shocked and even refuses to accept the truth at first. But then, he realized that maybe the right thing to do is to leave the two lovebirds together and start another life of his own.

Just as Paris is about to leave the tomb, Friar Laurence arrived and looked very shocked at seeing the three of them. Paris asked him why he suddenly visits the tomb. Friar Laurence told him the truth and Paris got very mad. Paris arrested Friar Laurence.

Prince Escalus decided to terminate the title of Friar Laurence as a Friar. During the trial, Paris saw Rosaline, Romeo’s first love. Paris immediately fell in love with Rosaline and in return, Rosaline loves Paris back as much as he loves her.

After the trial, Nurse is the one who comforts Laurence. She took care of him really well and even protected him against controversies that goes along his way; such as allowing the secret marriage of Romeo and Juliet an being involve in faking the death of Juliet.

After three years, the three couples: Romeo and Juliet, Paris and Rosaline and, Nurse and Laurence all decided to get married on the same day. In fact, after the revelation of Romeo and Juliet’s secret wedding, all of them became really close friends. The three couples had a triple wedding; and guess who wedded them? It’s definitely Friar John. Finally, all of them live happily ever after.

Bound Forever

Bound Forever

“Friendship marks a life even more deeply than love. Love risks degenerating into obsession, friendship is never anything but sharing”.- Elie Wiesel

I consider friendship one of the most valuable things in the world. As the saying goes, “No man is an island.” However, a question suddenly slipped into my mind, “. Why do two diverse people become friends?”. In my experience, I think it is because of trust.

Trust works like magic. It binds people till they build a good relationship. Trust is definitely one of the key ingredients in a good friendship.

On the collage above, I chose the symbol of the hand. That is because all the people that I have included in that collage helped me, hand in hand, in every way possible in order to reach my goals in life. They are the people who stayed by my side no matter what. They are the people who never get tired of my pointless dramas over and over again.

On the other hand, another thing that makes two strangers friends are the characteristics that each of them saw from each other. So, characteristics of my friends are: honest, loyal, thoughtful, loving, caring and helpful. I also like them because they are not “plastics” and they are true to their selves.

Now that we are already in high school, we are still as close like in elementary; and that is because we believe that we are bound forever.

My Legacy to Mother Earth

My Legacy to Mother Earth

Since I was a little child, I wondered what my legacy would be as I grew up. I even dreamed of having the legacy of being the first woman astronaut to step on Saturn or the legacy of being the first Filipino Formula One (F1) Racer in the world.

However, now as a teen, I have decided where to start my legacy; and that is none other than my legacy to our Mother Earth. You might wonder why. Well, the reason is just simple. It is because I have realized that I will not be able to fulfill all my other dreams without the safety of my own planet.

I have also come to the point where I really fell in love with our Mother Earth. I fell in love with all of its greatness and precious creations of God living on it. I fell in love with my own planet who is the only planet in our solar system to support life.

Now, the question is how I am supposed to fulfill my legacy to Mother Earth? How can a teenager like me make a difference in either saving or preserving our Mother Earth?

I know that as a teen, it would be quite difficult for me to make a legacy to our Mother Earth, but still I can say that I can. In making a legacy, for me, it does not take only one person to do it. It needs lots of cooperation.

Thus, I can say that just by throwing garbage to the proper trash bins, separating biodegradable from non-biodegradable, using the 3-R’s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle), joining voluntary tree-planting projects, and becoming a member of the  Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (Yes-O) of our school, and applying this to my daily living becomes my legacy to Mother Earth.

God proclaimed himself as the father of all people; and the Earth is our mother. We are indeed their children. Mother Earth is the greatest gift God has given to us.

However, nowadays, people mine old and precious gems to the extent. People use “kaingin system” and cut down the trees. The people who need Mother Earth are also the one who destroys it.

Let us come to our senses. Let us all refuse to murder our own Mother Earth, Let us protect her from all who try to destroy her and take away her beauty. Let us start now while we still have time.

Transitional Devices

Transitional Devices

Transitional devices connect ideas to add one fact or detail to another; or to achieve coherence and clarity. They carry the meaning that will allow you to pick out the right transition word to use to achieve comprehensible and clear flow of ideas or thoughts.

It can be grouped in three main groups namely: order of importance, chronological order and contrasting ideas.

Below, is a video made by our group, showing the use of transitional devices in our everyday conversation.

Role as a Friend: Toughest Role

Role as a Friend: Toughest Role

Roles may really seem to sound hard in the start. They sound very daring and challenging. They are like tons of responsibilities.  Thus, some people hate and feel troubled or distressed to do their roles. Perhaps, this is because they are not interested in doing them or anxious to fail in doing them.

Analogous to the niche in an ecosystem, each and every one of us have our own roles. Roles that you are certainly obligated to fulfill and do at your best. Yet, you always have a choice whether to do it or not. My advice is that each time you make choices, you should always consider the consequences that may arise.

I have read the quote “To have a friend and be a friend is what makes life worthwhile.”- Unknown, from the 43 Most Insightful Friendship Quotes in www.lifeoptimzer.com; and I definitely agree with this. Yet, you have to accept the fact that you can’t have a friend if you can’ perform the roles of being one.

According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a friend is a person who you like, whom you enjoy being with and supports you in choices that you make. Most of the time, friends are exclusive of family relations.

For me, however, a friend is someone who is always there for you when you need a hand, someone who can give you advice regarding your problem, someone who makes you happy, and someone you can trust with your profoundest secrets. A friend is someone who would root for you no matter what.

Back when I was in grade seven, I picture my high school life as a part of my life where I can have and make most of my time hanging out with my friends.  I thought my freshman year would be my destined year to find my one and only BFF (Best Friends Forever); because  I believed that it was the perfect timing to start a friendship- new school, new chapter and new page of my life.

From grade seven till now, I only got two out of five- two successful friendships and three drastically depressing break-ups (with three of my friends). In my first break-up, I thought it was the end of my world; that I would never find anything like her again- having the same likes and sharing the same thoughts or opinions about certain things.

Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever- including our friendship. Every day I always cry due to the dreadful sorrowness brought by our break-up. Second best friend is also an epic fail; and as well as the third.

I therefore conclude that, based on my experience, a heart break from a friend or losing a friendship is more painful than heart break from a crush or losing a relationship.

You are now probably asking me the reason for my break-ups. Well some of it are jealousy and competition. However, I think that I also have a problem in my part. I think I failed to do some of my roles as a friend; and this is the reason why I consider it as my most difficult role in life. Due to these break-ups, my role as a friend made a great difference in my life. It made me tougher in facing problems in life.

Another advantage of the role as a friend over other roles in life is that you are free to choose who you want to be your friends, unlike in blood relations. In order to have a good friendship with others, you should be aware of their personalities and behavior as well as know the different ways of managing and dealing with them.

By being open-minded, optimistic and performing my roles as a friend, I have now recovered from my break-ups and am now living a happy life with a new set of friends; and I think that this one would be my group of BFF that would really last for a lifetime.
